Astronomy Shopping Sites in Korea
Proviso
Frankly, I’ve been disappointed with my attempts to get gear from online astronomy shops in Korea. Many things are over priced—I mean way overpriced. Often they don’t have the stock they advertise. I now go through other online stores that will ship outside of the US and Canada.
But here are the Korean stores, anyway:
Telescopes, Binoculars and Camera Gear
Astronomy
Astromart - Perhaps the largest online astronomy shop (stocks good Tele Vue range)
Sky 39 - Large online astronomy shop
Stareshop - Seems to have a lot of gimmicky stuff
Sun Photo - Major Meade dealer, with occasional bargains
Orionz - Orion dealer, among others (proved to be unreliable)
Teko - Celestron dealer, among others
Sundu - Vixen dealer and large online astronomy shop (good prices)
Star21c - very little in English
Astrofocus - not huge
Starman
Mainly Binoculars
Cameras
Dica is com - Digital cameras
Saeki Prof - Major photography shopping site
Hyoksung
Oasis Digital - Some of the cheapest prices
Dicajin
Dicafamily
Sun Photo
For other than astronomy gear, start here:
Danawa - The price comparison site. But note that it does not have everything astronomical. Also note that, while it may give you a page listing places and prices for an item, the cheapest price is not necessarily at the top. There are other sections (which are also tabbed), so scroll down and check.
My Picks
Interpark - Huge online shopping mall (often has the best prices)
Auction - Online shopping (often has the best prices)
Others
NS eShop - Online shopping
Nate Mall - Online shopping
Best Hi Mall - Online shopping
Gmarket - Online shopping (in English too)
Zeromart - Online shopping
GS eShop - Online shopping
D & Shop - Online shopping
HMall - Online shopping
Samsung Mall - Online shopping
Some of these shopping mall sites are just co-ops or portals. If you order from them, you might be actually buying from one of the business in the top list.
Also, some typically don’t work that well in Firefox because all Koreans care about is Windows and IE. And if you’re using Linux as well, forget it: the programs and popups for paying online are unlikely to work.
