About

This blog began as an all encompassing place to put stuff from my old web site, which itself had started out as an addition to my resume. But a while back I decided to split everything up and have a series of small websites devoted to specific areas, and that’s when the blog morphed again to exclusively focus on my life in Seoul.
It’s not really a blog blog because I haven’t the time to be raving on constantly about myself, though enjoyable that would be. I guess it’s more of what you call a “slow blog,” or “sloblog” or the even less fattering “slob log.”
I ended up in Seoul after landing an editing position at Seoul National University. It wasn’t planned. It all began when I couldn’t find the kind of job I wanted in Perth, Australia, and age was also compromising my chances in the job market. That’s when I decided to look overseas. The editing job was one of the first I applied for. I was short listed, did a test sent by email and had a couple of phone interviews. Next thing I knew, I had a job in Korea.
I could have ended up anywhere. But I was lucky it was Korea because Korea has been nothing but good to me. I wonder if things would have gone as well elsewhere. Actually, I really wish I’d come here a lot sooner.
For more, have a look under the “Korea” tab.
